Coldplay @ Sleep Train Amphitheatre 7/14/2009

by Seth on Jul.16, 2009, under MUSIC!!!!, Travel

It has been a long time Dream of mine to see Coldplay live and FINALLY my dreams came true.  I was fortunate to take some time off of work and venture to Northern California for the Coldplay concert in Marysville at the “Sleep Train Amphitheatre.”  When we arrived in Marysville, I was concerned about the heat outside; it was a scorching 103 degrees but I assumed once the concert started the sun would be going to bed for the evening and hopefully that would make for a very pleasant evening.  There is is soooooo much to say about Colplay live but I will say this….”Coldplay was the best LIVE performance I have ever witnessed!”.  Though this may seem like a bold statement, I was truly moved by the clarity of sound and overall stage presence of the band.  Coldplay captivated the audience with songs dating back to the late 90’s (when they first busted onto the music scene) to their most current tracks off of “Viva La Vida”.   Coldplay’s set was about 2 hours.  What I love about Coldplay is their ability to control the audience and take us on a musical journey with both the Sounds and the Lights. Also, Colplay gave us a great treat when they performed an acoustic tribute to Michael Jackson playing “Billie Jean”….truly stellar and moving.  I am at a loss of words (which is rare) but If you ever have the chance to see Coldplay Live, PLEASE…PLEASE GO!, you will thank me later. I give Coldplay: +++++ …EXCELLENT!!!!

Spectacular weekend at the 7XL Ranch!

by Seth on Jul.12, 2009, under Travel

This weekend I enjoyed a fabulous get-a-way.  Martin Gastanaga,  invited his employees and family friends up to his Ranch located in Paradise Valley, Nevada (About 3.5 hours East of Reno).  I was told  this  Ranch was one of the most beautiful places in Northern Nevada so I made sure I had my camera ready for this adventure.  I made my journey to the 7XL Ranch Friday evening with fellow employees Rob Gaedtke and Jodie Wendt.  We arrived in the late night but was immediately welcomed by “THE” Martin Gastanaga as he pulled himself out of the High Desert shrubbery shortly after he wrecked his Dirt Bike, but never-the-less, he brushed himself off and led us on the finally stretch to his cabin.  Normally, I would continue write out the rest of the weekend but I made it my goal to capture as much of the weekend from behind my lens as possible so I hope you enjoy the photos, and if you are ever so luck to receive an invite to the 7XL Ranch, GO!!!!…It was a Rockin’ good time!

The Beautiful Truckee River

by Seth on Jun.16, 2009, under Misc., Travel

There are many Reno Residents that unfortunately will never take the time to visit one of the most beautiful places in the Northern Nevada Valley.  The Truckee River runs directly through the city of Reno and provides a vital environment & habit which supports most all of our beautiful Birds, Fish, Amphibians, Insects and Rodents.

I am fortunate enough to live within minutes of the Truckee River in Downtown Reno ,and often take evening walks down this meandering river.  During my walks I frequently see Beavers, Ducks of all species, Raccoons, Frogs, Crayfish, and of course Trout, which most of the time I cant help but cast a line in the water!

I have come to the realization that some residents of Reno, share my same passion and love for aquatic environments, and I have quickly made friends with the fellow fisherman and river rats. Growing up in Texas, I was introduced to the fresh water lakes of the South and all the species that contributed to the complex ecosystem of a fresh water lake but I am ONLY NOW truly understanding the beautiful components of the fresh water river.  I find it amazing that creatures can live in an environment that is consistently changing not to mention the intense flow of the snow melted waters.  Most all creatures of the river have adapted to survive in this element; powerful swimmers, vibrant colors of the earth’s floor, and amazingly alert instincts.  The more time I spend at the river, the more Mother Nature introduces me to her children.  I encourage all to take some time to visit the Truckee River and if you look hard enough you will see a wide array of creatures and mammals living in a harmonious circle of life, looking ever so curiously right back at you :) ! Enjoy the photos…more to come.

Easter Sunday = Brauts, PBR & Busted Face!

by Seth on Apr.14, 2009, under Travel

Well this Easter was a Thirller. Me and my shredding buddies spent the Day at Mt. Rose Snowboarding and BBQing some classic Brauts but Unfortunately my day was quickly haulted by a SERIOUS face plant that I endured off one of the JUMPS in the Terrain Park. After all the blood was rinsed off my face, all that was left was a couple of ice burned wounds and one severly swollen nose but we still rocked on and enjoyed the day with plentyful Shots of Whiskey and PBR!!!!

The Local’s Breakfast Spot

by Seth on Feb.23, 2009, under Food, Travel

During the weekend in Chico, Me and the boys (Trav, Sinner and Timmy) went to a local breakfast spot called “The Morning Thunder”.  The Morning Thunders is a retro style breakfast joint with classic American staples such as Huge Pancakes, Omelltes and Bagel Sandwhiches.  Most of there dishes are accompanied by a healthly portion of fried Red Potatoes.  I had the Denver Omelette which was awesome.  If your are ever in Chico and want to start your day off with a nice breakfast…Definately go to the Morning Thunder!
