Movie Review – Sherlock Holmes * * * *
by Seth on Jan.15, 2010, under Movie Reviews
On 1/1/2010 I ventured to the local movie theater, located on the beautiful Truckee river, to enjoy a New Years Day flick. I decided to see “Sherlock Holmes” and I must say, I was NOT disappointed at all. What immediately captivated my attention was the awesome camera angles and still shots! Within minutes of the movie starting, I knew I was going to at least enjoy the cinematography.
Outside of the great cinematography, The characters could not have been played better especially Sherlock Holmes (played by Robert Downey Jr.). In the movie, they dipicted Sherlock as a brilliant, ensentric bachelor with a serious lust for thrill, adventure and invention. Downey absolutely smashed his role as Sherlock! I would love to wirte more but as you can see, this review is posting 2 weeks after I saw the movie so just be thankful that I finally got it up. ha ha ha ha. I recommend that you definitely see Sherlock Holmes. I give it 4 Stars.
Movie Rating Chart:

* * * * AWESOME. Great plot, acting and possibly sex scenes!
* * * * * EPIC. Need I say more?
Playlist of the Day – Kid Cudi – Man on the Moon Sample
by Seth on Jan.15, 2010, under MUSIC!!!!
As our world evolves, so does our music. A lot can be said about the evolution of Hip-Hop. Some say, “they don’t like the direction in which Hip-Hop is heading” but I find the new direction on Hip-Hop very exciting. Kid Cudi is a prime example of what Hip-Hop has become. Cudi has created a style that is appealing to the majority rather than just the urban community. His debut album, “Man on the Moon” is AWESOME! Kid Cudi teamed up with Kanye West to produce a instant classic album for the Nu Skool. Below are my 7 favorite songs from the album. PLEASE DO NOT pirate this album, support this up and coming Artist. I got you CUDI!
Playlist of the Day – R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass
by Seth on Jan.14, 2010, under MUSIC!!!!
Today is another sad day for the music industry. Teddy Pendgrass passed away yesterday afternoon at the age of 59. Words can not express how Teddy’s music transformed life’s and the R&B music industry. With his heart felt lyrics and bold yet smooth sound, Teddy has a magical way of exploiting the REAL emotions that we all feel in relationships. Many of his lyrics and hooks can still be heard in the current top 40 pop songs. DJ’s around the world sample his music to this day, creating masterpieces for the New Skool to enjoy. I place him in the same legendary group as Marvin Gay, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross and Barry White.
Teddy’s career was short lived as he suffered a severe car accident that paralyzed him from the waist down. Despite his misfortune he continued to live a strong and inspirational life. I trust that Teddy is in a better place and I hope that NO ONE ever forgets the “Teddy Bear”. R.I.P. Teddy, I hope to see you again. Please take the time to ENJOY this playlist.

Playlist of the Day – Further Seems Forever – How to Start a Fire
by Seth on Jan.06, 2010, under MUSIC!!!!
Further Seems Forever is a band that never truly got there act together. They have hand numerous band members leave over disputes or different opinions. Also, they had multiple lead singers but the album that proves most successful, in my eyes is: “How to start a fire”. Enjoy. See “Band Bio” below for more details into their interesting line-up changes.
Band Bio:
Further Seems Forever was an American rock band formed in 1998 in Pompano Beach, Florida and disbanded in 2006. Over the course of their career the band experienced several lineup changes, resulting in a different lead vocalist performing on each of their three studio albums. Original singer Chris Carrabba recorded with the band for their first album The Moon is Down in 2001 before leaving to start Dashboard Confessional. He was replaced by Jason Gleason, formerly of Affinity, who performed on the 2003 album How to Start a Fire. Gleason left the band in 2004 due to interpersonal tensions and was replaced by former Sense Field vocalist Jon Bunch for the band’s final studio album Hide Nothing. None of the three vocalists can be said to have recorded more than one full album with the band, as posthumous compilation albums included contributions from multiple singers.
The band’s music is often classified as indie rock and is frequently associated with the emo genre. They have also been classified as a Christian rock act due to the individual band members’ religious beliefs, frequent themes of Christianity in their lyrics, their association with the predominantly Christian Tooth & Nail Records label, and their performances at Christian-themed festivals such as Cornerstone. Despite these associations, the group often claimed not to be an explicitly Christian band, but rather a rock band with Christian members. -“wikipedia.org”

Playlist of the Day – The Kooks – Konk
by Seth on Jan.05, 2010, under MUSIC!!!!
Well, as much as I would like to take credit for todays playlist, I must give it up to Nessa. Thanks for the recommendation. After listening to this album, I have a good feeling that this will be a popular post on Seth World, when return visits! We are starting off 2010 with one hell of a album. Enjoy, I know I will! Jam on’.
Band Bio:
The Kooks are an English indie pop band formed in Brighton, East Sussex, in 2004. Formed by Luke Pritchard (vocals/guitar), Hugh Harris (lead guitar), Paul Garred (drums), and Max Rafferty (bass guitar), the lineup of the band remained constant until 2008 and the departure of Rafferty. Dan Logan was drafted in as a temporary replacement, until Peter Denton joined the band on a permanent basis in October 2008.
A self-described “pop” band, their music is primarily influenced by the 1960s British Invasion movement and post-punk revival of the new millennium. With songs described as “catchy as hell” The Kooks have experimented in several genres including rock, Britpop, pop, reggae, and ska, at times being described as “a less severe Arctic Monkeys”.
Signed to Virgin Records just three months after forming, The Kooks broke into the musical mainstream with their debut album Inside In/Inside Out (2006). The album was ultimately successful, achieving quadruple platinum status in the UK within a year and also overseas in the form of a platinum certification in Australia and two times platinum in Ireland. The Kooks found themselves entering into mainstream media attention, with the band winning the award for Best UK & Ireland Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards 2006 and picking up a nomination at The Brit Awards for the single “She Moves in Her Own Way. With their follow up Konk (2008) debuting at number one on the UK Albums Chart it recorded first week sales of 65,000, achieving gold status in both the UK and Ireland. The Kooks are currently working on their third studio album. “wikipedia.org”
Playlist of the Day – The Get up Kids – On A Wire
by Seth on Jan.04, 2010, under MUSIC!!!!
Classic album, for all who enjoyed the late 90’s / early 2000’s Indie scene. Enjoy.
Band Bio:
The Get Up Kids are an American indie rock band from Kansas City, Missouri. Formed in 1995, the band was a major player in the mid-90’s emo scene, otherwise known as the “second wave” of emo music. As they gained prominence, they began touring with bands such as Green Day and Weezer before becoming headliners themselves, eventually embarking on international tours of Japan and Europe.[1][2] They founded Heroes & Villains Records, an imprint of the successful indie rock label Vagrant Records. While the imprint was started to release albums by The Get Up Kids, it served as a launching pad for several side-projects such as The New Amsterdams and Reggie and the Full Effect.[3]
The Get Up Kids were viewed throughout their existence as a prototypical emo band, having been major players in the Midwest emo movement of the mid-1990s.[4] However, like many early emo bands, The Get Up Kids sought to dissociate themselves with the term, as it was considered dismissive to be seen as an “emo band.”[5] Years later, guitarist Jim Suptic even apologized for having the influence they did on many of the modern third-wave emo bands, commenting that “[t]he punk scene we came out of and the punk scene now are completely different. It’s like glam rock now . . . If this is the world we helped create, then I apologize.”[6]-“wikipedia.org”
