Bonus song of the Day – Death Cab

by Seth on Oct.15, 2009, under MUSIC!!!!

OKAY so today I met an awesome fellow by the user name Cville Seth “Cville” on my blog.  From what it seems he has been following my “Songs of the Day” for quite sometime and I am thrilled to have finally exchanged in conversation with such a knowledgeable individual.  Anyways, I was inspired and began to dig into my collection of favorite songs.  That proved to be too hard as I enjoy so many different genres of music so since I am in an INDIE mood, I arrived at one of the modern day Indie classics by none other than Death Cab For Cutie. Now, many people claim that Indie music is “EMO” or depressing but I feel as if it is simply another form of art/music.  Indie music is raw and real.  Real life lyrics with extremely talented musicians who crafted their musical genius into their heavy and rather complex lyrics.  Simply Art. Simply Music.  For the record, let me say that in our day and age, it is truly side that people feel as if music in an IDENTITY….Wrong.  Music is not an Identity but a form of expressions or entertainment that can and should be enjoyed by all so… DO IT.  Listen to what you want and explore other sounds and genres.  If you do so, you will find that ALL Musical Genres learn and adopt various styles and practices from one another.  The world is not a large as one might think and music has a beautiful way of displaying the intimate relationship of our world. That being said Rock out, Jam on, Keep on Groovin’ and Explore!  Here’s to CVILLE, a true inspiration to the curiosity of the human soul. Enjoy the chosen track from Death Cab…Turn it up…close your eyes and escape for a minute to musical tranquility. lol

Nice. I like Death Cab, a bit of a sentimental Ben Folds without the comic relief. And they are overdue for a listen.

The problem with anti-emo is that people are forgetting that the many moods of music are all facets. If all one ever was ended up being highly emotional, that’s unfortunate. But really, how many of who you thought you’d always be bros with fell off? How many people didn’t even turn into people you could understand? And we box ourselves into cookie cutter lives in cookie cutter apartments and rent our own rooms and all the adventures of childhood disappear because people grow so isolated even brothers wouldn’t be caught in the same hotel bed. The degeneration of brothers is the unspoken portion and the degeneration of the relationship of two lovers is the spoken portion, but the December sun isn’t only setting on lovers. It’s a message that the disintegration of the community of intimates (families or lovers) has been noticed. And other favored emo tunes ask other questions and remind us that we’re not the only ones who wonder.

If for some reason that doesn’t make sense, I am posting this before my first cup of coffee. And that is the ultimate excuse in Cville.
