The Smiths  are quite possibly, one of the most influential bands to exist.  Invading the Euro pop scene in the early 80’s they controlled the spotlight for much of the mid to late 80’s but their music lives on in many modern day bands such as: Anberlin, Brand New and Oasis.  The Smiths had a masterful way at making music that made you just feel down-right good inside.  Lead singer Morrissey in my mind is arguably one of the most talented Vocalist of Modern Pop Rock.  He brings a very strong jazz hall-like delivery in his lyrics which make for a brilliant compliment to the famous catchy melodies that Lead Guitarist, Johnny Marr crafted (Who now plays with current band Modest Mouse).  If this is your first time listening to The Smiths, please please don’t let it be the last. If you take the time to explore all The Smiths albums, you will find that many sounds that are currently being used in our current TOP 40 hits, were in-fact created by the genius of  The Smiths.  The Smiths have secured a spot in my TOP TEN bands of all time..but hey..Not just for their music but more importantly for the influence they had on Euro and American Modern Rock…That’s just way I feel.  ENJOY!
