The Beautiful Truckee River

There are many Reno Residents that unfortunately will never take the time to visit one of the most beautiful places in the Northern Nevada Valley. The Truckee River runs directly through the city of Reno and provides a vital environment & habit which supports most all of our beautiful Birds, Fish, Amphibians, Insects and Rodents.
I am fortunate enough to live within minutes of the Truckee River in Downtown Reno ,and often take evening walks down this meandering river. During my walks I frequently see Beavers, Ducks of all species, Raccoons, Frogs, Crayfish, and of course Trout, which most of the time I cant help but cast a line in the water!
I have come to the realization that some residents of Reno, share my same passion and love for aquatic environments, and I have quickly made friends with the fellow fisherman and river rats. Growing up in Texas, I was introduced to the fresh water lakes of the South and all the species that contributed to the complex ecosystem of a fresh water lake but I am ONLY NOW truly understanding the beautiful components of the fresh water river. I find it amazing that creatures can live in an environment that is consistently changing not to mention the intense flow of the snow melted waters. Most all creatures of the river have adapted to survive in this element; powerful swimmers, vibrant colors of the earth’s floor, and amazingly alert instincts. The more time I spend at the river, the more Mother Nature introduces me to her children. I encourage all to take some time to visit the Truckee River and if you look hard enough you will see a wide array of creatures and mammals living in a harmonious circle of life, looking ever so curiously right back at you
! Enjoy the photos…more to come.
